The police are having tough time handling the film buffs at Ameerpet. Yes, apparently surroundings of Sarathi studios have been jam-packed in the last few days with mega fans. In fact, Pawan Kalyan is shooting for his upcoming film Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu" at Sarathi Studios.

All the fans are thronging the studio to get a glimpse of their favorite actor but controlling the crowd has become a major task for the police at the shooting spot. But such is the craze and popularity of power star Pawan Kalyan. So the police have decided to beef up the security after the traffic came to a standstill.

Pawan is playing the role of a Journo in this movie while Tamanna plays his love interest. Mani Sharma is composing tunes for this movie, which is directed by Puri Jagannath and produced by DVV Danayya.

Apparently, Anushka is a great fan ofChicken Curry and she never loses an opportunity to enjoy it. “I am a big fan of Chicken Curryand I just love it. Chicken is my weakness and when I was a kid, people used to bribe me withChicken Curry to get things done” said Anushka to a leading daily.

Well, being a yoga practitioner, is it not strange to be a chicken lover? “Not really. Leanchicken is good for health”, the actress says. Anushka is currently busy with a couple of Tamil films. In Telugu, she has Nagarjuna’s ‘Damarukam’ and Prabhas’s ‘Vaaradhi’ lined up forrelease this year.

First ever South Indian International Movie Awards

 A Quick look at the recent top grossing B-town films prove one point - most of them are remakes of blockbuster films from the south. And while Bollywood stars then take their success stories to a global market courtesy international film award shows like IIFA, the south is yet to get its due. And that wait is about to end. 

According to a source, on June 21 and 22, Dubaiwill play host to the first-ever South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA), that will bring the who's who of the four south Indian film industries together.

"Vishnuvardhan Induri, the man behind the successful Celebrity Cricket League has conceptualized this awards function. The idea behind SIIMA is to give the south its due. Globally, Bollywood is very popular and that too with films that were originally made in the south. SIIMA will take south Indian films to a larger audience," says a source.

The event, adds the source, will be high on glam and entertainment. "The organizers have sent out invitations to all the big stars of Tollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood and Mollywood. They are hoping to get participation not just from those who have been nominated and those who are performing," says the source, adding that the television telecast of the show will be in July.

Versatile character artiste Prakash Raj is a key part of the ambitious multistarrer project ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’. The actor will be playing the crucial role of Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu’s father and he is currently participating in the film’s shoot at Ramoji Film City.

Prakash Raj says that the film is turning out be a classic in the making. He tweeted that he is having a great time on the sets with Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu. Samantha and Anjali are the heroines in this movie and Srikanth Addala is the director. Mickey J Meyer is scoring the music and Dil Raju is the producer. SVSC is scheduled to release on September 28th.

BALAKRISNA 100th MOVIE

Nandamuri Balakrishna is very close to a personal milestone in his movie career. He is a very few films away from his 100th film and plans are afoot to make it a grand and memorable project. Apparently, Balakrishna and seniors from the film industry are proposing a big budget mythological extravaganza for the occasion and efforts are on to finalize the story and other details. Yalamanchili Saibabu, who produced ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ with Balakrishna, might be the producer of this movie.

Currently, Balakrishna is busy with ‘Srimannarayana’, which will be his 97th film and his next venture will be ‘Aditya 999′ in the direction of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. The 100th film might take off in late 2013 and this project will generate a lot of interest for sure.

ilayaraja song in OLYMPICS

Music Maestro Ilayaraja has received a rare honour. At this year’s London Olympics, scheduled to begin in July, Ilayaraja’s song from the 1981 Kamal Haasan flick ‘Ram Lakshman’ will be played along with a few other samples of world music as part of the openingceremony. The song is ‘Nanthaan Ungappanda’ and this opening ceremony is going to be conducted in a spectacular fashion by Danny Boyle, the director of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Ilayaraja himself is said to have been quite surprised by this decision, more so since the songis not among his most popular ones. The opening ceremony is going to be unveiled at a cost of 27Million pounds and it is indeed a great honour for our very own Ilayaraja to be a part of this. Congratulations Sir.

Karthi has teamed up with Pranitha for the political entertainer ‘Shakuni’ and the movie has released today across the world in both Telugu and Tamil versions. Shankar Dayal is the director of the film and Gnanavel Raja has produced this project on Studio Green banner. Music has been scored by G.V.Prakash. With a big Telugu release, expectations are high on this film so Let us see how it is.

Story :

Kamal Krishna (Karthi) is a simple guy from the town of Samarlakota. He comes to Hyderabad to seek the help of political leaders in a bid to save his ancestral home which is scheduled for demolition for a Railway track. But he faces insults and abuses from all the leaders, especially the corrupt and cruel Chief Minister Bhupathi (Prakash Raj) . A dejected Kamal decides that gaining political power is the only way to save his property. He comes across a local auto driver Rajini a.k.a. Appalraju (Santhanam) and with his help, he sets out to achieve hisobjective.

He first meets a local money lender cum Don Ramanakka (Radhika) and convinces her to file a nomination for the post of Corporator. With his schemes and intelligence, he makes her the Mayor of Hyderabad. Next in line is the rustic Sanyasi B.D.Baba (Nasser). Kamal polishes andpackages him into a powerful and highly revered Godman. As Ramanakka and B.D.Baba become extremely popular, Kamal starts gaining recognition and he comes across an old political leader named Perumal (Kota Srinivasa Rao). Perumal is the head of the OppositionParty in the state and Kamal once again uses his intelligence and schemes to make Perumal popular.

But the evil CM Bhupathi is not going to take things lying down. He strikes back at Kamal in unexpected and severe ways. In between all this is a romantic track with his maradalu Sridevi (Pranitha). Will Kamal survive these attacks? Will he be able to save his property? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Karthi looks handsome and he employs his killer smile to great effect in the movie. He has natural charm and his performance is relaxed. His efforts to dub in Telugu are worth appreciating and it actually works very well. He shoulders the movie admirably and gives a very convincing performance. Full Marks!

The second half of the film is quite entertaining and the pace is good. The satires on the political system and the schemes between the opposing political parties will work well with the audience, given the current political climate in the state. Prakash Raj is good as the evil CM Bhupathi. This performance is a cakewalk for him. Santhanam brings a few laughs at Auto Driver Rajini and his scenes with Karthi are good in places.

Radhika delivers a good performance as Ramanakka. Kota Srinivasa Rao and Nasser are pretty decent. Anushka and Roja have small cameos and it is good to see Anushka after a long time on the big screen.

Minus Points :

Pranitha is not very impressive as the lead heroine. She does not have the glamour to match Karthi and her role is actually quite small. Her romantic track with Karthi has been handled poorly. The first half of the film is a big let down and the story does not move forward much. The non linear narration can actually get a little boring in the first half.

The actual plot is not too impressive and if not for the entertaining political satires in the second half, the movie would have had a tough time. Though Karthi’s ancestral property is at stake in the film, the emotional conflict about this is not portrayed very well. A stronger emotional motive would have helped.

The songs act as mere speed breakers and their placement in the movie could have been better.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is quite good and the visuals are pleasing. Editing is not upto the mark and it could have been better. Music and background score provided by G.V.Prakash is a big letdown for the movie. Dialogues are entertaining, especially the political lines in the second half.

The director showed good skills in the second half, but his grip on script and screenplay could have been better in the first half, as mentioned already.

Verdict :

Shakuni is a political entertainer that is worth watching once for a sparkling performance from Karthi and an entertaining second half. The movie’s first half is disappointing and so is G.V.Prakash’s work. Overall, Shakuni will work if you love watching political satires. The movie will have a decent chance at the Box Office because of the present political climate and the lack of new big releases.

Story Kamal (Karthi) is a dynamic youngster who takes on the political system in the state. The character makes an unsual heroic entry with punch dialogues and sattires on the current politics. Dashing beauty Anushka played the role of a cop. Kamal will be accompanied by Rajini (Santhanam) in almost every move he makes right from war of words to street fights. The plot turns interesting with the entry of Ramannakka (the local don) minutes before the first half ends. Ramanakka (played by Radhika) wants to enter into politics and resorts to all unfair means to come to power. The movie focusses on tactics played by political parties to lure votes—right from cash for votes to free liquor and other stuff.

Analysis : 
The entry of Karthi was superb. The people in the front row jumped and yelled in excitement for every punch dailogue of Karthi. Nasser’s role as B.D Swamiji and Radhika’s character Ramanakka were neatly sketched by the director. The election campaigning scenes too appealed the audience. The songs were looking good. The romantic track between Karthi and Pranitha was to make sure that there’s entertainment in the movie, otherwise the movie is complete political sattire. Screenplay was interesting. Choreography was ok. Cinematography was outstanding. The picturization of songs and even political canvessing was awesome. 

Performance : Radhika as don-turned-politician gave extra ordinary performance while Karthi striked good balance between political and love tracks. Kota Srinivasa Rao as Perumal gave his best as expected. Karthi gave tough competition to Prakash Raj. Pranitha was just love interest and had no major role to play except in songs. We earlier reported that Anushka is doing a guest role in Karthi’s forthcoming film Shakuni. However that is kept as a secret is her cameo role in the movie, now the latest reports says that she will be seen in a powerful police officer role in Shakuni. Though she appears for few minutes her character is the most important one for the film.

On other hand Anushka Shetty is sharing the screen space with Karthi for Alex Pandian which is about to launch soon. At present Anushka working in two Tamil films with Suriya in Singham 2 and Vikram in Thandavam and one telugu film with Prabhas under Koratala Shiva direction. And Anushka’s latest movie Damarukam opposite Nagarjuna is getting ready for release.

Sakuni will release on June 22 in Telugu and Tamil. Praneetha did the female lead in Sakuni. Bellamkonda Suresh is releasing this film in Telugu. Debutent Shankar Dayal is the director for this movie.

After mouth watering massive success with ‘Dookudu’ and ‘Business Man’, Mahesh Babu has become busy with ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and Sukumar’s movie. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is actually slated for September 28th while Sukumar’s film may hit the screens in 2013.

While Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is primarily targeted at family crowds, Sukumar’s film is being readied to entice students and teenagers. Both these movies are being readied to target two different segments of the audience. He is also in discussions with Boyapati Sreenu for any full length mass action entertainer. That way, Mahesh Babu is likely to cater to as many segments of the audience as you possibly can andincrease his already excellent appeal at the actual Box Office.

Nag’s new look becomes talk of the town

Nagarjuna is one of the actors who always experiments with his looks and now he has done it again by surprising one and all with his new radicallook.

Nag was seen sporting a goatee and short hair pulled up in spikes in Ram Charan’s reception that caught everyone’s eye. Nagarjuna along with his wife Amala and sons Naga Chaitanya , Akhil attended the receptionevent.

Buzz is that Nagarjuna will be seen in the same look in his next movie Love Story in the direction of Dasaradh that has Nayanatara as the leading lady. Love Story is hitting the floors in July and Nagarjuna has reportedly wrapped up the shooting schedules of his forthcoming devotional movie Shiridi Sai in K.Raghavendra Rao direction.
