Is Samantha looking too old? Yes, sources close to auteur Manirathnam informed us that the director was not too happy with her "matured looks" and she's no longer associated with the film. After wrapping up some key scenes on her with newcomer Gautham (yesteryear hero Karthik's son), Manirathnam is said to have found she is looking much older than the hero who is just 20 years old.
As per the script of Manirathnam's current film, the female protagonist is a teenage girl. Watching Samantha's Telugu films, Manirathnam felt that she could pull off the role of a teeny village belle, and shot some scenes with her. When he found that she's looking much older opposite the young boy, he replaced her with another new girl 14-year old Tulasi, younger daughter of yesteryear actress Radha.
Samantha who has almost 7 big films in her kitty has missed the chance to do Manirathnam's film. Two of her big movies - Rajamouli's Eega and Gautham Menon's Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu , are releasing this July.
